Children with GERD may present with different symptoms and communication difficulties. The current invasive method of diagnosis is 24-hour pH measurement with a nasally inserted probe. The measurement interface of the prototype device developed was based on a measurement methodology that uses non-invasive sensors placed on the external surface of the abdomen to measure the myoelectric activity of the smooth muscle tissue of the gastrointestinal tract. During the development, the measured activities were recorded. This recorded recording is the so-called electrogastrogram (EGG). In order to use the EGG for diagnostic purposes, the development of objective evaluation modules and algorithms for the evaluation of the recorded signals was necessary to investigate the given disease type. Reflux events, in addition to changes in the EGG signals, also lead to changes in the ECG and its various parameters measured simultaneously, also non-invasively, due to the interaction between the gastric and cardiac regions under investigation. Analysing all these together suggests that a reliable diagnostic model for reflux can be established. As a result of this development, a clinical trial entitled &#8220;Clinical study for the diagnosis of childhood reflux disease by developing a non-invasive measurement and assessment method&#8221;, code number REFL_001\/17, was conducted at Heim P\u00e1l Children&#8217;s Hospital using the combined (EGG,ECG) measurement and assessment tool of MSB-MET Ltd. 137 subjects were included in the study, of which data from 128 subjects can be included in the evaluation model. The mean age of the patients was 12.9\u00b13.74 years, mean body weight was 48.99\u00b118.213 kg, mean height 155.98\u00b119.244 cm. Volunteers clinically diagnosed as reflux patients and non-reflux volunteers were included in the study. Volunteers diagnosed as refluxing underwent 24-hour esophageal pH measurement as part of their screening to confirm or reject the diagnosis, and thus the model building was performed in two groups, refluxing and non-refluxing volunteers.
